Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump said that the trade deal with India is almost ready and could be signed soon. Trump made this comment during the swearing-in ceremony of Sergio Gor, the next US ambassador to India. He said, "We are making a new agreement with India, which will be different from the previous one. This time both countries will get equal benefits. The negotiations on the agreement are almost complete and it will be beneficial for both the countries."

Trump said he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have a very good understanding. He described India as a very important international partner for the United States.

"We hope Sergio Gor will further strengthen the relationship between India and the United States. India is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations, the world's largest country... We have a wonderful relationship with Prime Minister Modi, and Sergio will make it even better, as he has already developed a friendly relationship with the Prime Minister," Trump said.

Sergio Gor was sworn in by Vice President JD Vance. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent were also present. Trump praised India, saying it is a rapidly growing economy and a key security partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

Vice President Vance also congratulated Gore, saying that both he and President Trump deeply admire India. Sergio Gore thanked President Trump and said he would work diligently to further strengthen India-US relations. He said, "I have been with you for many years and will continue to be. This is an incredible honor for me, and I look forward to further strengthening the relationship between our two countries."

Sergio Gor, 38, is the youngest US ambassador ever appointed to the post and has long been a close ally of Trump.
