India–Pakistan Tension Rises After Army Chief’s ‘Trailer’ Remark

Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has expressed fear over a possible Indian military action after Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s recent warning. Speaking on Tuesday, Asif said Pakistan cannot ignore India’s statements and claimed that India might launch another cross-border operation.
This reaction came after General Dwivedi strongly warned Pakistan to stop cross-border terrorism. He said that the recent 88-hour “Operation Sindoor” was only a “trailer,” and if needed, India is ready to teach its neighbour a lesson again.
During an interview with a Pakistani TV channel, Asif accused India of supporting infiltration from Afghanistan. He also claimed that countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, and China want Pakistan to control such attacks. He described Afghanistan as a “hub for terrorists.”
According to Asif, India does not want Pakistan and Afghanistan to resolve their issues peacefully. He added that Pakistan could be trapped on two fronts, while India might avoid direct conflict. He also said some people in Pakistan remind India of its “past humiliation,” which increases distrust.
On the Gaza issue, Asif said Pakistan should join the international peace mission. He clarified that Pakistan has no intention of joining the Abraham Accords and will not change its stance until a two-state solution is implemented. He also called Pakistan’s rising population a “ticking time bomb” and said that bureaucrats are more powerful than elected leaders, making it difficult to solve national problems.
