Sidoarjo, Indonesia (The Uttam Hindu): A school building collapsed in Sidoarjo, East Java, leaving 91 people trapped, including students. Local authorities confirmed that three people have died, while 26 others are currently receiving treatment in nearby hospitals. The incident has sparked a massive rescue operation as hundreds of emergency personnel work tirelessly to free those trapped under the debris.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) spokesperson Abdul Muhari reported that more than 90 people were injured in the collapse, with three fatalities declared on-site. Rescue operations are being carried out carefully, avoiding heavy machinery to prevent harming those buried under the rubble. Teams are using their hands to remove debris and are providing trapped individuals with food, water, and oxygen.

Officials revealed that many of the students trapped are aged 12 to 17 years, and about 65 students remain unaccounted for according to the notice board information released after the incident. Construction experts are collaborating with the BNPB to devise a debris removal strategy that will allow the safe extraction of survivors and, if necessary, the controlled use of heavy machinery in later phases. Families of the missing students are anxiously awaiting news as rescue teams continue their efforts.

Authorities are urging the public to remain calm and rely on official updates from the disaster management agency to prevent misinformation and panic.
