Iran takes tough stand, says it hasn’t forgotten America’s broken promises
Iran accuses United States of broken promises, blames “unreasonable demands” for failed peace talks.

Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): Iran has adopted a firm stance during ongoing discussions with the United States, highlighting deep mistrust rooted in past experiences. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said that Iran has neither forgotten nor will forget what it describes as America’s history of broken promises. His remarks come even as both sides continue negotiations in Islamabad, with officials indicating that no immediate breakthrough was expected from a single round of talks.
In a message shared on social media, Baqaei stressed that diplomacy for Iran is closely tied to safeguarding national interests and honoring past sacrifices. He reiterated that previous conflicts and losses have only strengthened the country’s determination to protect its rights. According to him, the Iranian delegation has been fully engaged in lengthy and intense discussions, with continuous exchanges taking place between both sides under Pakistan’s mediation.
He further stated that the talks have focused on key issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear program, sanctions relief and regional stability. While some limited progress has been reported significant differences remain with Iran blaming what it calls excessive demands from the US. Officials added that another round of talks is expected, though details regarding the timing and venue are yet to be finalized.
