Iran launches major strike, ballistic missiles reportedly fired at US warship Abraham Lincoln

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, tensions in West Asia have escalated further, with the situation appearing to move toward direct military confrontation.
According to Iranian media reports, Iran targeted a major US Navy warship. It is claimed that four ballistic missiles were launched at the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
Iranian sources stated that the warship was involved in recent US military operations that targeted Iranian positions.
However, the United States Department of Defense has not issued any official confirmation regarding the reported attack. The US had earlier warned that any strike on its military bases or naval assets would receive a strong response.
Analysts believe that if confirmed, the attack could indicate a direct escalation between the US and Iran. Naval deployment in the Persian Gulf and nearby waters has already increased, raising concerns about global energy supply and maritime trade.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation amid fears of a wider regional conflict.
