Iran severely weakened, talks underway: Donald Trump claims doors open for negotiations
Donald Trump claims Iran has been severely weakened by US military action and says talks are underway, with doors open for a possible agreement.

Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has been significantly weakened and is now engaging in talks with the United States. He said discussions are underway and indicated that Tehran is willing to reach an agreement.
Speaking to reporters after disembarking from Air Force One and later at the Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit in Miami, Trump asserted that US military operations have achieved major success. He stated, “Iran is weakening. Talks are now happening between us. They want a deal. Our military is the strongest in the world.”
Claims of major military success
Trump suggested that sustained US pressure forced Iran to come to the negotiating table, though he did not provide details on the timeline or format of the talks.
In his Miami address, he said the US had inflicted extensive damage on Iran’s military infrastructure. According to him, American forces have been targeting Iran’s weapons stockpiles, missile and drone factories, and broader defense industrial base.
He claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have been severely degraded, stating that its navy is “almost gone,” the air force has become ineffective, and air defense and communication systems have been heavily damaged.
Targets achieved ahead of schedule
Trump described the military campaign as a major success, saying that the United States achieved its objectives ahead of schedule. “We met the goals set four weeks ago two weeks early,” he said.
He also claimed that several senior Iranian leaders had been eliminated and that the country’s leadership structure had been significantly weakened.
Pressure leading to negotiations
Trump emphasized that the ongoing pressure has compelled Iran to consider negotiations. He linked the military campaign to broader strategic goals, including preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and reshaping regional security dynamics.
He stated, “As President of the United States, I will never allow the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism to obtain nuclear weapons.”
Overall, Trump maintained that continued military action has weakened Iran and opened the path for potential negotiations.
