New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The first message of Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtoba Khamenei was read out on state television on Thursday. His statement reflected a strong tone. He clearly said that Iran will not stop attacks on US bases, while also emphasizing maintaining friendly relations with neighboring countries. Praising the courage of the military, he said Iran will definitely avenge the blood of its martyrs.

While appreciating the bravery of the armed forces, Khamenei said the country’s military prevented Iran from breaking apart and did not allow anyone to dominate it despite war-like conditions. He said, “I want to thank those brave fighters who are doing an excellent job at a time when our country is under pressure and facing attacks.” He added that Iran will continue its retaliatory strikes.

Mojtoba Khamenei also stressed the importance of improving relations with neighboring countries. He claimed that armed fighters from Yemen and Iraq are also ready to support Iran. According to him, Yemen stands with Iran, and armed groups in Iraq are prepared to “help in the Islamic revolution.”

In his first message, Khamenei urged the nation to remain united and claimed that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to maintain pressure on Iran’s enemies. He said Iran believes in friendship with its neighbors and is targeting only US bases, and this will continue.

He also warned allied countries in the region to immediately shut down all US bases in their territories, otherwise they may face attacks. Since the announcement of his appointment, Mojtoba Khamenei has not appeared publicly. Iran’s ambassador to Cyprus, Alireza Salarian, told The Guardian on Wednesday that Khamenei was injured in the same airstrike in which his father and former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.
