The war has divided the global community into two groups, with some countries supporting Iran while others are backing Israel and the United States. Amid this situation, a sensational claim spread on social media suggesting that the United States is using Indian ports to launch attacks against Iran.
Viral video of former US officer sparks controversy
The claim began circulating widely after a video went viral on social media. In the video, former US military officer Douglas Macgregor was seen in an interview claiming that the US Navy was now relying on India and its ports. In the video, he also stated that American military bases and harbor installations had been severely damaged. According to him, this situation had forced the United States to depend on Indian ports, which he described as far from an ideal arrangement.
Foreign Ministry rejects the claims
As the claim spread rapidly online, the Ministry of External Affairs strongly rejected the allegation. The ministry described the claims as completely false and misleading. Through its fact-check account on the social media platform X, the ministry warned people to remain cautious about such fabricated and baseless statements. The Government of India clearly stated that no country has been allowed to use Indian ports or naval facilities for military operations against Iran, and the viral claim has no truth in it.
India stresses peace and safety of civilians
Regarding the ongoing conflict, India reiterated its neutral and peaceful diplomatic stance. Expressing concern over the rising tension in the Middle East, India urged all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise the safety of civilians. Following the same policy, the government is continuously working to evacuate Indian citizens stranded in conflict-affected regions, and hundreds of Indians have already been safely brought back to the country.
