Israel's Isolation Deepens: Netherlands Bans Ministers, France and UK Weigh Palestine Recognition

Jerusalem (The Uttam Hindu): Due to the war going on for nearly two years against Hamas in Gaza, Israel is now facing strong opposition and diplomatic isolation in European countries. One after another European countries are taking strict steps against Israel. In this sequence, Netherlands has banned the entry of two radical ministers of Israel, while countries like France and Britain are considering recognizing Palestine as a nation.
Among European countries, the Netherlands has taken the toughest action against Israel. The Dutch government has banned Israeli Foreign Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir from entering the country. Netherlands Foreign Minister Kasper Waldekamp said in a letter sent to MPs that this decision was taken because these two Israeli leaders have made statements inciting violence against the Palestinian people, which has worsened the situation in Gaza. Apart from this, the Netherlands will also summon Israeli Ambassador Modi Efraim.
Israel's crisis does not end here. France has openly talked about recognising Palestine, while Britain has also said that if the war in Gaza does not stop, it can also consider such a step. Many European countries have together announced a cut in research funding for Israel. It is clear from all these developments that Israel is becoming isolated among European countries regarding the Gaza war.
Although Israel still has the open support of America, the withdrawal of support of Western countries has become a cause of concern for it. Israel has strongly objected to France's move and said that recognising Palestine is like supporting Hamas terrorism. Israel warned that France is playing with fire by doing this. European countries say that the situation in Gaza is extremely inhuman and due to this all-round pressure, Israel has agreed to stop the war for 10 hours every day, so that humanitarian aid can be provided to the people.
