Israeli Man Takes Own Life Two Years After Witnessing Girlfriend’s Murder in Hamas Attack

Tel Aviv (The Uttam Hindu): The pain of the brutal Hamas attack at the Nova Music Festival in October 2023 remains alive even after two years. 30-year-old Israeli man Roy Shalev, who lost his girlfriend right before his eyes during the massacre, took his own life a few days after the second anniversary of the horrific event. His body was found inside his burned car in Tel Aviv. Hours before his death, he posted a poignant message on social media, expressing that he could no longer endure the pain.
Final Message Before Death
Three days after the second anniversary of the attack, on October 10, Roy Shalev shared a social media post that worried his friends and family. He wrote:
“Please don’t be angry with me. No one will ever understand me and that’s okay… I just want to end this pain. I am alive, but everything inside me is dead.”
A few hours later, his body was discovered.
The Horrific Day – October 7, 2023
During the Hamas attack at the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023, Roy, his girlfriend Mapal Adam, and their friends tried to hide under a car to save their lives. Roy shielded his girlfriend, pretending to be dead for hours. Terrorists eventually shot both, killing Mapal Adam on the spot. Roy never recovered from the trauma. The attack claimed 378 lives in total.
The tragedy did not end with Roy alone. A few days after the attack, Roy’s mother, who was very close to Mapal Adam, also committed suicide by setting her car on fire.
Mapal Adam’s sister Mayan shared a picture of her sister and Roy, writing:
“Roy’s murder actually happened on October 7, he just said goodbye yesterday. I have no words… I hope they are now together and smiling. Their hearts are reunited again.”
