Japan Shaken by Earthquake for the Fourth Time in a Week; Magnitude 6.7, Tsunami Alert Issued

Tokyo (The Uttam Hindu): Japan experienced strong tremors again this morning as a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck offshore. The quake was felt from coastal regions to distant inland cities. According to Indian Standard Time, the earthquake occurred at 8:14 AM, with a depth of 10.7 km, making it more dangerous. Due to the intense shaking, people in several areas rushed out of homes, buildings, shops, and offices as alarms went off.

As per Japanese media reports, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning, predicting waves up to 1 meter high. Residents in several coastal areas were advised to remain alert until afternoon. Tsunami advisories were announced for Hokkaido Central Pacific Coast, Aomori, Iwate, and Miyagi prefectures.

Japan has been repeatedly hit by earthquakes this week. On Monday, a 7.6-magnitude quake injured more than 50 people and damaged roads and buildings. On Tuesday, Honcho city recorded a 6.7-magnitude tremor. On Wednesday, Aomori and Hokkaido witnessed a 6.5-magnitude quake. Now on Friday, another 6.7-magnitude earthquake has struck. This means Japan has been shaken four times in four days.
