JD Vance and Usha Vance welcome baby boy, first birth to sitting US Vice President in 150 years
It's the first time in 150 years that a child has been born to a sitting US Vice President while in office. The last time this happened was in 1870 with Vice President Schuyler Colfax

Washington (The Uttam Hindu): A little guest has arrived at the home of US Vice President JD Vance and his Indian-origin wife Usha Vance. The couple has achieved the honour of becoming parents for the fourth time. With the birth of this son, a very unique and historical record has been registered in the name of Vice President JD Vance. This is the first time in the last 150 years in American history that a child has been born in the home of a sitting Vice President while in office. Since this happy news came out, the couple has started receiving congratulations from all over the world.
Find out what the little guest's name is, the couple released a statement
Vice President JD Vance and Usha Vance shared this happy news with the world in a joint statement on social media. Revealing the baby's name, they said, "We are incredibly happy to announce the birth of a beautiful son, whom we have named 'Alec Neil Vance.' Both Usha and our newborn are doing perfectly well. Our other three children are extremely excited and delighted to welcome their little brother."
Expressed gratitude to the White House medical team and military doctors
Sharing his joy, JD Vance specifically thanked the medical team. He said, "The wonderful military doctors and staff members at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing to us. We are deeply grateful for the care and support they have provided our family throughout this journey." JD Vance's wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, 40, is of Indian descent, and her family originally hails from Andhra Pradesh, India. Usha and JD Vance met while studying at Yale Law School and married in 2014. The Vance couple has three other children: nine-year-old Evan, six-year-old Vivek, and four-year-old Mirabelle.
Such a rare event happened for the first time since 1870
Interestingly, Republican leader J.D. Vance has long been in the news for his statements encouraging American families to have more children, and the birth of his fourth child confirms his views. Looking back at American history, the last instance of a child being born to a sitting Vice President occurred in 1870. At that time, the then-Vice President, Shayler Colfax, and his second wife, Ellen Wade, welcomed a son, Shayler Colfax III. This historic coincidence has now reoccurred.
