New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In the wake of heavy losses suffered during India’s “Operation Sindoor,” the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has reportedly devised a new and alarming strategy targeting India. According to intelligence reports, JeM has created a separate female wing, named “Jamat-ul-Momineen,” marking the first time women will be formally integrated into their militant operations.

The wing is reportedly led by Sadia Azhar, the sister of JeM chief Masood Azhar. Sources indicate that Sadia’s husband, Yusuf Azhar, was killed during the Indian armed forces’ strike on JeM’s Bahawalpur headquarters during Operation Sindoor. The establishment of this female unit is seen as a move to avenge losses and reinitiate terrorist activities, signaling a significant ideological shift for JeM, which traditionally opposed women’s direct involvement in combat operations.

Recruitment for this wing reportedly began at Markaz Usman-o-Ali in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. JeM is targeting economically vulnerable women, including the wives of its commanders and those studying in JeM-affiliated centers in cities like Karachi, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, and Mansehra. The group is leveraging poverty and lack of opportunities to expand its female cadre.

This development poses a serious security challenge for India, as JeM has been responsible for major attacks, including the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing. The creation of a female militant wing presents a new type of threat for security forces, reflecting tactics similar to global terrorist organizations such as ISIS and Hamas.
