Major accident crane falls on moving train 22 killed more than 30 injured

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic railway accident in Thailand’s capital Bangkok has claimed at least 22 lives, while more than 30 people have been injured. The incident occurred when a crane from an under-construction project collapsed onto a moving passenger train, causing several coaches to derail.
According to reports, the train was travelling from Bangkok towards northeastern Thailand when the accident took place in Sikhio district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, around 230 kilometers northeast of the capital. The train was heading towards Ubon Ratchathani.
Local police chief Thatchapon Chinnawong confirmed that 22 passengers lost their lives in the crash, while over 30 injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
As per local media, the crane fell suddenly during work on a high-speed rail project and struck the passing train. Following the impact, multiple coaches derailed and briefly caught fire. Authorities said the fire has been brought under control and rescue operations are ongoing. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
