According to INA, the governor said that lawsuits have been filed against the owner of the building and the mall. He has termed it a tragedy and disaster. This incident is a big setback for the city of Kut, although incidents of such fires have happened many times before in Iraq. In the year 2021, 82 people were killed in an oxygen tank explosion in a hospital in Baghdad, while in the year 2023, more than 100 people died in a fire caused by fireworks in a marriage hall in Nineveh.
