Pakistani man kills wife, 5 kids in brutal axe attack over suspected infidelity
According to recent data presented by Pakistan's Human Rights Minister, Azam Nazir Tarar, more than 7,500 women were brutally murdered in the country between 2021 and 2024, of which 1,553 were committed in the name of honor

Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Pakistan's Punjab province, which has once again raised serious questions on the law and order and social structure of the entire country. In Sargodha, a maniac crossed all limits of brutality for the sake of 'false pride' (honor killing) and hacked his wife and five innocent children to death with an axe. This horrific incident is proof that violence against women and girls in Pakistan is showing no signs of stopping. Sri Lanka's prestigious newspaper 'Daily Mirror' has also exposed this poor social system and fearless criminals of Pakistan in its recent investigative report.
The entire family was destroyed due to suspicion on character
Citing Sargodha police, local Pakistani newspaper "Dawn" reported that this horrific incident took place early Monday morning. Acting swiftly, police arrested two people, including the husband, the main accused. According to reports, the accused suspected the character of his wife and elder daughter, aged 15-16 years old. He believed they were having an illicit relationship with another man. Driven by this suspicion, he brutally murdered his wife, elder daughter, three sons aged 5 to 13, and even a newborn baby of a few months. After committing this heinous murder, the main accused inflicted serious injuries on himself and attempted suicide.
FIR registered on brother's complaint, case registered in the name of 'false pride'
Following this horrifying incident, the police immediately registered an FIR based on the complaint of the deceased's brother. In their official report, the police clarified that this was a clear case of honor killing, meaning murders committed in the name of saving one's honor. All six people died a painful death on the spot. This is nothing new in Pakistan; every day, women and innocent people are killed for the sake of false honor.
These horrifying statistics of 'honor killings' in Pakistan will send shivers down your spine
The statistics on honor killings in Pakistan are alarming. According to recent data presented by Pakistan's Human Rights Minister, Azam Nazir Tarar, more than 7,500 women were brutally murdered in the country between 2021 and 2024, of which 1,553 were committed in the name of honor. Meanwhile, a report by the US-based human rights organization Human Rights Watch claims that approximately 1,000 women fall victim to honor killings in Pakistan every year. Referring to the murder of social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch, which occurred nearly 10 years ago, the Daily Mirror wrote that despite the 2016 law change, criminals in Pakistan continue to commit their heinous crimes with impunity, and the legal reforms are having no visible impact on the ground.
