New York (The Uttam Hindu): A shooting incident has taken place in a skyscraper located in Manhattan, in which five people including the attacker have died. On Monday evening, a gunman shot dead a 36-year-old police officer and three other people, while another person was injured in this incident. The gunman also shot himself.

Police and law enforcement sources told The Post that the 27-year-old attacker, identified as Shane Tamura, entered the 44-story building that houses the Blackstone and the National Football League (NFL) headquarters and started firing with a rifle at about 6:30 p.m.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch told in a press conference that Shane Tamura started attacking people as soon as he stepped into the lobby. He first shot officer Didarul Islam. The attacker has a 'mental health history'.

According to sources, Didarul Islam was shot in the back and died in hospital. Four civilians were also shot, three of whom died.

Jessica Tisch said Tamura then shot a woman hiding behind a pillar and continued firing in the lobby.

The attacker did not stop here, he moved towards the elevator and shot a security guard hiding behind a desk. Tamura then took the elevator to the 33rd floor, where Rudin Management has its office. Here he fired bullets while walking, killing one person.

After the firing, Tamura locked himself on a floor inside the skyscraper and was found dead some time later on the 33rd floor. According to sources, he shot himself.

Police recovered Tamura's rifle, a Palmetto State Armory AR-15 assault rifle, which was stained with blood. A vehicle with a Nevada license plate registered in Tamura's name was found at the scene. According to sources, Tamura worked as a security guard at a casino in Las Vegas.
