Missing Indian student's body found in US, embassy grieves as repatriation plans move forward

California (The Uttam Hindu): A missing Indian student in the US state of California has died. The Indian Embassy said that the body of the missing student has been found by the local police. The 22-year-old student has been identified as Saket Srinivasaiah. He was a resident of Karnataka and was pursuing post-graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Saket had been missing since Tuesday.
According to local media reports, the student's backpack was found on the doorstep of a home in the Park Hills area. The backpack contained his passport and laptop. The Consulate General of India, San Francisco, has expressed deep concern over his disappearance. According to police, Saket was last seen in the 1700 block of Dwight Way.

Saketh Srinivasaiah was pursuing a master's degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering. He completed his B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2025. Police had classified him as "at risk" and launched a massive search operation. His body was found after an extensive search of Tilden Regional Park and surrounding areas.
