Naypyidaw (The Uttam Hindu): A horrifying airstrike on a Buddhist monastery in Myanmar’s Sagaing region late Thursday night left at least 23 people dead and 30 injured, including 4 children, according to reports. The bombing took place in Linn Ta Lu village, where over 150 civilians had taken shelter from ongoing military conflict.

Eyewitnesses stated that around 1 AM, a fighter jet dropped bombs directly on the monastery, causing chaos and carnage. The airstrike reportedly targeted civilians who had fled conflict in nearby areas. Out of the 30 wounded, 10 are in critical condition. Independent news platform Democratic Voice of Burma claimed the death toll could rise to 30 as rescue efforts continue.

This tragic incident comes amid the ongoing civil war in Myanmar, which began in February 2021 when the military seized power from the democratically elected government led by Aung San Suu Kyi. Since then, the country has been plunged into widespread violence and instability. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility, and the Myanmar military has not issued an official statement on the strike.
