Nepal Protests Turn Violent: Crowds Storm President's Home, PM's Residence Vandalized

Kathmandu (The Uttam Hindu): The crisis on the government is deepening amidst the ongoing violent protests in Nepal against the ban on social media platforms. On Tuesday, another minister of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's cabinet also resigned. A total of four ministers have resigned. The protesters have committed arson and vandalism at the private residences of President Ramchandra Padol and PM KP Sharma Oli. Apart from this, the houses of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Ramesh Lekhak, who resigned from the post of Home Minister yesterday, and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung have also been set on fire.
Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari issued a statement on Tuesday saying that he resigned from his post. He said, "The violence has raised the question whether the current government is moving towards a totalitarian system." Amidst violent protests, KP Oli has called an all-party meeting at 6 pm. Despite curfew and strict security arrangements, the scope of protests is increasing and the political crisis is deepening.
Amidst the protests in Nepal, the Hilton Hotel in Kathmandu became the target of the protesters' anger. The mob vandalized the hotel. The protesters allege that this hotel is the property of a political leader of Nepal.
