New Jersey helicopter crash: 2 choppers collide mid-air, 1 pilot killed

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : A major plane crash occurred in the US state of New Jersey. Two helicopters flying over the city of Hammonton collided, causing both to crash. One pilot died on the spot, while the other was seriously injured.
In the video that emerged from the scene, it can be seen that a helicopter rapidly spins and falls down. After the accident, one of the helicopters caught fire, which was extinguished after a lot of effort by the police and fire department team. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that two helicopters of Enstrom F-28A and Enstrom 280C models collided mid-air over Hammonton Municipal Airport. Both helicopters had only one pilot on board. One pilot died after the collision, while the other was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to the AP report, Sal Silipino, owner of a cafe near the crash site, said the two pilots knew each other well and often had breakfast together at his cafe. He said he and other customers saw the helicopters take off, but a moment later, one of them began to descend, and then the other. "It was very shocking. I'm still shaking," Silipino said.
Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said the accident will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Investigators will try to determine whether the two pilots had any communication before the collision and whether they were able to see each other.
