North Korea fires missile amid US-Iran ceasefire, panic grips South Korea
North Korea fires missiles amid US-Iran ceasefire, raising tensions in South Korea as regional security concerns intensify.

Seoul (The Uttam Hindu): While a potential ceasefire between the United States and Iran has brought some global relief, tensions have simultaneously escalated in East Asia after Kim Jong Un led North Korea carried out fresh missile tests.
According to South Korea’s military, North Korea launched multiple short-range ballistic missiles from its eastern coastal region. The missiles reportedly traveled around 240 kilometers before falling into the sea. This marks the second missile test in the past two days.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the launches took place from the Wonsan area, with the missiles landing in the eastern maritime zone. Officials emphasized that South Korea, in coordination with the United States under their strong military alliance, remains fully prepared to respond to any provocation.
The military also revealed that another suspected missile launch had been detected near North Korea’s capital a day earlier. Intelligence agencies from both South Korea and the United States are currently analyzing these developments. Reports suggest that one of the missiles may have failed mid-flight after showing abnormal activity and disappearing from radar.
This escalation comes at a time when North Korea has made it clear that it is not interested in improving relations with South Korea. Meanwhile, Seoul has repeatedly expressed willingness to resume dialogue.
In a strong statement, a senior official from North Korea’s foreign ministry described South Korea as its “principal enemy,” signaling continued hostility between the two nations.
Experts believe that ongoing missile tests and aggressive rhetoric could keep the Korean Peninsula unstable, even as tensions appear to ease in other parts of the world.
