Kabul / Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have intensified as military forces from both countries remain on alert along the border for the past several days. Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry announced that its air force carried out precision strikes on multiple Pakistani military installations, claiming the action was taken in response to recent Pakistani operations inside Afghan territory.

According to Afghan authorities, the strikes targeted Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, the headquarters of the 12th Division in Quetta, and Khwazai Camp in the Mohmand region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Afghan officials stated that several key military facilities suffered significant damage and warned that any further violations of Afghan airspace would be met with a stronger response. The escalation follows earlier Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul and Kandahar, after which Afghan forces reportedly launched counter-operations.

Afghan sources claimed that dozens of Pakistani soldiers were killed during the overnight attacks and that several military posts were destroyed. They also reported that Pakistani drones were shot down during the clashes. Officials said advanced weapons and equipment were used in operations across eastern and southern Afghan provinces, and the situation in the region remains tense.
