New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan has once again been embarrassed internationally in Munich, Germany. Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, who had arrived to attend the Munich Security Conference, was stopped by security personnel at the entry gate. A video of this incident is rapidly going viral on social media, in which security officials are seen asking Munir to properly show his identification card. This incident has caused significant embarrassment for Pakistan on the global stage.

The guard tapped his badge

In a video that's going viral on social media, Asim Munir was walking toward the conference hall entrance when a security officer stopped him. The officer instructed Munir to hold his ID card forward so it was clearly visible. To illustrate, the security officer tapped his own badge and signaled Munir to do the same. This entire uncomfortable incident was captured on camera just steps from the main entrance.

Sindhi organizations staged a strong protest outside the venue

While the Army Chief's detention at the gate caused controversy, the Germany-based Sindhi political organization, Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), strongly objected to his invitation to the conference. The organization's activists staged a vigorous protest outside the venue, raising their voices against alleged human rights violations in Pakistan. The JSMM appealed to international organizations to immediately address this serious issue.

Munir's presence on the global stage is 'unfortunate'

JSMM Chairman Shafi Burfat issued a strong statement addressing the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), the German government, and international human rights organizations. He said that Asim Munir's presence on such a major global peace platform was extremely unfortunate and deeply saddened him. It is worth noting that the Munich Security Conference is considered one of the world's most important security forums, where leading leaders, diplomats, and security experts from around the world gather each year to discuss international peace and global crises.
