New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Army's recent accurate strikes under Operation Sindoor created chaos and panic among the ranks of the Pakistani forces, with intercepts showing that some of its officers left their posts during the offensive. From Indian Army sources, intercepts indicate that a Pakistan Army 75th Infantry Brigade commander who was posted close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) did not return to duty during the operation.

Junior officers phoned him to ask about reopening the office and the commander is said to have responded, "The office will open later, save your lives first." The 75th Infantry Brigade, which is stationed close to Muzaffarabad, was one of the divisions that was hit by the Indian Army's attack on terror camps across the border. Several camps, such as the ones in the Sawai Nala sector and Syedna Bilal Camp, were targeted in the raid and destroyed, killing over 100 terrorists and destroying two important launch pads.

In the other intercepted conversation released by the Indian Army to IANS, junior Pakistani officers were overheard declaring: "Our commander sahab managed to escape with difficulty. He's performing namaz in a mosque. He's sent his men here and said that he will come back only when things settle down." The panic was further added to by losses in the Pakistani Army. A confirmed intercept of the killing of Captain Hasnain Shah of the 16th Baloch Regiment, killed in the Haji Peer sector, added to the panic. His body was said to have been recovered from Abbottabad by the 6th Pakistani Brigade.

Indian Army authorities believe that at least 64 Pakistan troops died and more than 96 were injured in India's retaliation strikes. According to the army, India did not attack civilian or non-military targets, targeting only terror camps and those offering militants cover.

Operation Sindoor was initiated in retaliation for the ghastly slaughter of 26 Indian tourists in Pahalgam on April 22 at the hands of Pakistan-backed terrorists. In a retaliatory strike, Indian forces attacked nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating key terrorists and deactivating their launch facilities.

While Indian attacks were targeted against terror spots, Pakistani troops allegedly fired at military and civilian sites on the Indian side of the LoC to retaliate, leading to fresh action by Indian troops to destroy Pakistani military posts engaged.
