Pakistan Issues Nuclear Warning: Will Use 'Full Spectrum of Power' Against India

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Islamabad has issued a sharp warning, stating it will use the "full spectrum of power" in response to any aggression from India. This phrase is widely interpreted as a reference to Pakistan’s nuclear doctrine and has raised alarm among regional and global observers.
The warning follows a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, where over two dozen civilians, including tourists, lost their lives. India has blamed Pakistan-based terror groups for orchestrating the attack—allegations strongly denied by Pakistan.
Pakistan’s statement refers to its military doctrine of “Full Spectrum Deterrence,” which includes the option of deploying tactical and strategic nuclear weapons. Unlike India’s official “No First Use” policy, Pakistan maintains a more flexible approach, reserving the right to initiate nuclear response under certain extreme circumstances.
In response to the Kashmir attack, India has taken a firm stance, reportedly considering multiple diplomatic and strategic options, including revoking bilateral cooperation agreements and recalling diplomatic staff.
The nuclear warning from Pakistan has heightened concerns of further escalation. Both countries possess substantial nuclear arsenals, and the international community has urged restraint and immediate diplomatic dialogue to prevent a larger conflict.
Global powers have called for de-escalation, highlighting the catastrophic risks of miscalculation in the South Asian region. The situation remains tense, with both nations closely monitoring military movements and public statements.
