Jammu (The Uttam Hindu): Tension prevailed on Sunday morning along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district after a suspected Pakistani drone was seen near the Digwar area. Alert personnel of the Indian Army noticed the unmanned aircraft hovering close to Indian territory and immediately opened fire in an attempt to bring it down.
Officials said the drone was spotted at around 6:10 a.m. from a forward post, prompting troops to fire several rounds. Despite the intense firing, the drone managed to escape and returned towards Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Following the incident, security forces launched a detailed search operation in the area to check whether the drone had dropped any weapons, explosives or narcotics.
Authorities said this is the second such incident in the past three days, indicating continued attempts at cross-border activity. Earlier, troops had opened fire on another suspected drone in the same sector on February 27. In view of repeated incidents, security has been tightened and forces along the LoC have been placed on high alert with close monitoring of all suspicious movements.
