Pakistani General's jaw-dropping claim: India's rise as a global power seen as 'Trojan Horse' of global south

Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan's four-star general and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, while acknowledging India's growing global power, has made a jealous statement. Calling India a Trojan horse of the Global South, he said that India follows "imperialist and expansionist policies". Speaking at an event 'Balancing Relationships Between Global North and Global South: Challenges and Opportunities' held in Islamabad, Mirza said, "India is an important country of the Global South and an ambitious country with a significant place in the world order."
But during the same speech, his tone suddenly changed. He accused India of hegemonism and expansionism, saying that India “ignores UN resolutions and human rights.” He said that India’s current stance is “contrary to the aspirations of the Global South” and that it is “a potential Trojan horse” in the grouping.
General Mirza also stated that Pakistan welcomes mediation by a third country or international organization to resolve disputes with India. In his words, "The role of a third party or a multipolar panel is essential to resolve disputes between India and Pakistan, and we welcome any such effort." In his speech, Mirza even stated that India's "politics has become militarized" and the "politicization of the military" has become a dangerous combination that could destabilize regional stability.
However, Mirza's allegations are ironic in a country where no elected government has ever completed its term and the military has repeatedly seized power. Analysts say Mirza's statement reflects Pakistan's nervousness and jealousy about India's growing global standing and its strong position in the Global South.
