Pakistan's Proxy War in Kashmir: From Hizbul to TRF, Local Terrorist Narrative Exposed

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan has been trying to localize the Kashmir issue for a long time. Pakistan created Hizbul Mujahideen with the intention of a local terrorist organization. After the collapse of Hizbul Mujahideen, it created The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy organization for Lashkar-e-Taiba.
For many decades, Pakistan has been wanting the local people to be involved in terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Its intention was to avoid international criticism by taking advantage of the fact that the local people want to separate Kashmir from India and Pakistan has no role in this.
However, Indian agencies have always been successful in exposing Pakistan's bluff. Even in the recent Pahalgam attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had clearly stated that the attackers were from Pakistan and the entire attack was supported by Islamabad.
Now a detailed report by a leading Kashmiri NGO, Save Youth Save Future Foundation, has revealed that 60 per cent of the unmarked graves in Jammu and Kashmir belong to foreign terrorists.
The report also said that 30 per cent of the graves belong to local militants. However, the most shocking revelation is that only 0.2 per cent of the graves (9) belong to civilians.
This report addresses two major issues. First, Pakistani terrorists were more active in Kashmir than locals. Second, many have also rejected claims of widespread killings of civilians.
The report titled 'Unraveling the Truth: A Critical Study of Unmarked and Unidentified Graves in Kashmir Valley' said that 2,493 graves belong to foreign terrorists while 1,208 belong to locals. 9 graves belong to civilians while 70 graves belong to tribal raiders from the 1947 war.
Pakistan has long been running an agenda to show that locals are carrying out terrorist attacks. It has also tried to fabricate a story through its agents at international forums that mass killings of civilians are taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. These people also said that civilians are being killed and it was linked to unknown graves. However, the report breaks this myth.
Pakistan's fake narrative was at its peak during 'Operation Sindoor'. The First Field Marshal claimed that it was India who had requested Pakistan to stop the operation. Pakistan used official channels and social media to spread lies. Its aim was to create panic among Indian citizens and confusion in the international community about India's action.
Pakistan also tried to anger Sikhs in India when it falsely claimed that India had attacked the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan. Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, director general of Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), even went as far as to say that India had fired missiles on Amritsar.
India has always been successful in calling Pakistan's bluff, but such reports and the recent NIA investigation will be used to put forward New Delhi's point of view. Intelligence Bureau officials say that this report on the graves about which Pakistan is lying will prove helpful in exposing Islamabad before the international community.
The NIA investigation will also prove to be a big blow to Pakistan. It not only revealed that all three terrorists were of Pakistani origin, but also revealed the funding route, which clearly points to a Pakistani link.
