Washington (The Uttam Hindu): Donald Trump said he had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin in which the two leaders discussed the ongoing Russia–Ukraine War and the rising tensions in the Middle East. Speaking at a press conference in Florida, Trump confirmed the call and said the discussion initially focused on the Ukraine conflict before shifting to the worsening situation in the Middle East.

Responding to questions, Trump described the conversation as “very good,” noting that several officials from both sides were present on the call. He said the leaders also talked about the strained relationship between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to Trump, the deep personal tension between the two leaders has been one of the major reasons the war has continued for so long.

Trump added that Putin expressed a willingness to play a constructive role in addressing the escalating crisis. However, the US president remarked that a more meaningful step would be for Moscow to help end the Ukraine war. During the press conference, Trump also referred to ongoing US military operations against Iran, claiming that thousands of targets had been struck and a large part of Tehran’s military capability had been weakened, as global tensions continue to rise.
