Red Sea Horror: Houthi Rebels Sink Cargo Ship in Deadly Attack, 3 Sailors Killed; VIDEO Surfaces

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Global maritime security suffered a chilling blow as Houthi rebels in Yemen unleashed a violent attack on a commercial cargo ship in the Red Sea, sinking it completely. The bulk carrier 'MV Magic Seas', sailing under a Liberian flag and Greek ownership, was hit by drones, missiles, and rocket-propelled grenades on July 6, according to the European Union's Operation Aspides.
The EU naval mission has confirmed that three crew members died and two others were seriously injured, with one losing a leg. This contradicts earlier reports that suggested all 22 crew members were rescued safely.

A graphic video released by the Houthis shows the ship engulfed in flames after multiple direct hits, followed by a massive explosion. The footage captures the vessel breaking apart and sinking within minutes into the Red Sea, leaving behind a trail of fire and smoke.
The attack took place late Monday night as the vessel was headed toward the Suez Canal. Despite attempts by onboard security personnel to defend the ship, they were unable to withstand the scale and ferocity of the assault.
The Houthis have claimed responsibility, stating that the ship violated their blockade on Israeli-linked shipping. The group has frequently targeted Red Sea shipping since the Israel-Hamas conflict intensified, claiming their actions are in solidarity with Gaza.
This incident marks a disturbing escalation in maritime attacks, posing a serious threat to one of the world’s busiest and most critical trade routes. The international community has condemned the attack, expressing concern over its impact on global supply chains and demanding action to ensure maritime safety.
