Mistake or Misstep? X Blocks Reuters Account in India, Govt Seeks Explanation

New Delhi ( Uttam Hindu News): The X (formerly Twitter) account of international news agency Reuters has been blocked in India. X is saying that this is the result of a "legal demand", but a big twist has come up in this case. Government sources have denied any new legal demand and have sought an explanation from X for this action and have asked to lift the ban.
According to government sources, this entire action could be the result of an old and now irrelevant appeal. It is being told that during “Operation Sindoor”, on May 7, there was a demand to block Reuters's X account along with hundreds of other accounts. However, at that time many accounts were blocked, but no action was taken against Reuters.
An official source said, "It appears that Elon Musk-owned X has now implemented the old order, which is a mistake on its part. Since the issue is no longer relevant, the government has approached X to resolve it as soon as possible." The government has asked X to explain the move and lift the ban immediately.
