New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Russia has planned to call 10 lakh workers from India by the end of 2025. This decision has been taken to overcome the shortage of men and workers in Russia due to the Ukraine war. Andrei Besedin, head of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the deal with India in this regard has been finalized.

He heard from his Indian friends that 10 lakh Indian workers will reach Russia, especially the Sverdlovsk region, by 2025. Not only this, a new Indian embassy is also going to open in Yekaterinburg, the capital of Sverdlovsk, to help Indian workers. The Sverdlovsk region of Russia is a big center of industry. There is a huge shortage of workers in factories related to metal and machinery here. According to Besedin, the deployment of Russian men in the Ukraine war and the inclination of the youth not to work in factories are the major reasons for this. In such a situation, hardworking and skilled workers of India can fill this gap. The city of Yekaterinburg is becoming a big logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia through the Trans-Siberian Railway. Along with this, this city will also play a big role in Arctic development. Indian workers will get a big opportunity here in the metal and machinery industry. Let us tell you that the temperature of Yekaterinburg remains up to 24 degrees in summer, but goes down to -17 degrees in winter. There is a blanket of snow from October to April. Most Indian workers are used to working in the hot weather of the Middle East, so the cold of Russia will be a new challenge for them. Apart from this, it may be difficult for those who are pure vegetarians to arrange food. However, warm clothes of Indian and international brands are easily available in Russia, which can provide some relief from the cold.

Russia has started testing Indian workers. A Moscow-based company called Samolyot Group has started a pilot project to hire Indian construction workers. So far, 4,000 Indians have applied for jobs in St. Petersburg. Indian workers are already working at some building sites in Moscow and Kaliningrad. The Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Russia has given the idea of opening training schools in India so that workers can be trained according to Russian needs. Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov has supported this plan and has said that it will be implemented in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry.
