Russia lashes out at Pakistan, embassy’s strong response stuns the world

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan often does something that embarrasses it in front of the entire world. This time, Pakistani media did something that angered the Russian Embassy. The Russian Embassy took Pakistan to task on the social media platform X.
The Russian Embassy was angered by reports about Russia published in the Pakistani newspaper The Frontier Post. Following this, the Russian Embassy sharply criticized the Pakistani media in a lengthy post on the social media platform X.
The Russian embassy wrote to X-Post, "We have taken note of a series of anti-Russian articles published in the Pakistani English-language newspaper The Frontier Post. It is difficult to call this magazine Pakistani, as its Global News Service is headquartered in Washington. This team has significant US influence and consistently prioritizes anti-Russian extremists, critics of Russian foreign policy and President Vladimir Putin."
The Russian Embassy alleged that it was difficult to find even a single news item in the international section of this news which published positive or unbiased news about Russia or its leadership.
The Russian Embassy said that we respect freedom of expression and the editorial board's right to publish authors with different points of view, however, the anti-Russian articles raise the question whether the editorial board's policy is influenced by the political agenda of anti-Russian forces rather than freedom of expression.
The Russian Embassy also objected to the newspaper's lack of coverage of the Moscow Format Consultation, which took place on October 7, 2025. While it was well covered in local media, the newspaper did not cover news related to the consultation event.
Russia also accused the Frontier Post of tampering with evidence, saying, “Journalists at the Washington-based Frontier Post are manipulating facts to portray Russia as a weak country on the verge of economic collapse.”
The Russian Embassy hit back at Pakistan, writing, "Despite facing significant external pressure, the Russian economy has shown steady progress. In 2024, Russia's GDP grew by 4.1%, with some sectors, such as manufacturing, experiencing growth of up to 8.5%. Russia's unemployment rate is 2.5%, and the expected average annual inflation rate for 2025 is 6.5 to 7%."
These figures are unusual for a country whose economy is said to be on the verge of collapse." The Russian embassy urged Pakistani citizens to seek information from different sources and not rely on such publications.
