President Putin: Russia Ready for Detailed Discussion on New Ukraine Peace Plan

Moscow (The Uttam Hindu): The U.S. administration led by President Donald Trump has proposed a 28-point peace plan to end the ongoing Russia–Ukraine war. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has now reacted to the proposal, saying Moscow is ready for detailed and serious discussions on the plan. Putin said the proposal was received through existing communication channels between the Russian and American governments.
He added that the plan could potentially serve as the foundation for a final peace agreement. According to a Xinhua report, Putin confirmed that Russia is prepared to hold constructive talks on the peace proposal, as well as on peaceful solutions to all related issues. Notably, Putin and Trump had met in Alaska this August to discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict, but no breakthrough was achieved.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently told his citizens that Ukraine is facing some of the toughest decisions in its history. The pressure on Ukraine to accept the U.S.-drafted 28-point peace plan has become one of the most challenging moments for the country. Zelenskyy indicated that Ukraine is being pushed to choose between losing its credibility or losing a key international partner, clearly pointing toward the U.S.
The leaked peace plan includes several points that Ukraine has consistently rejected. According to the proposal, Kyiv would give up control of major areas in the eastern Donetsk region that are currently under its authority. Ukraine would also be required to reduce its military strength.
One of the most critical conditions in the plan is that Ukraine must pledge not to join NATO—something Zelenskyy has already refused. The plan further states that Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk would be recognized as part of Russia. It also proposes reducing Ukraine’s military size and gradually lifting sanctions on Moscow. Ukraine would be required to hold national elections within 100 days and abandon any ambition for NATO membership.
In return, the U.S. would provide security guarantees to Ukraine. However, Kyiv would have to pay Washington for this security commitment. The plan also proposes that the U.S. would receive 50% of the profits from rebuilding and investment projects in Ukraine, and once sanctions are lifted, the U.S. would form new economic partnerships with Russia.
