Kyiv/Moscow (The Uttam Hindu): Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv and nearby areas just ahead of the NATO summit, killing at least seven people and injuring more than two dozen others. Several residential buildings were damaged, while rescue teams continued operations to search for people trapped under the rubble.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed intelligence agencies had warned of a major Russian strike and accused Moscow of trying to increase pressure ahead of the NATO summit. Officials said the latest attack came days after another deadly assault on Kyiv that killed dozens of people.

The attack has further escalated tensions before the NATO summit, where the Ukraine war and European security are expected to dominate discussions. Fighting continues on both sides with Russia intensifying operations in eastern Ukraine and Ukraine launching drone strikes on Russian military and energy targets.
