‘Saw Allah’s help coming’, otherwise surviving India was difficult: Asim Munir strikes a new tone on Operation Sindoor

Rawalpindi (The Uttam Hindu): After facing a major strategic setback in Operation Sindoor against India, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir continues to draw attention with controversial remarks. In an apparent attempt to cover military failure and pressure, Munir has now turned to religious references and claims of divine intervention.
Speaking at an event held at the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi, Munir claimed that Pakistan received “Allah’s help” while facing intense military pressure from India. His statement has triggered widespread debate on social media as well as among international strategic observers.
Faith replaces strategy
Addressing the gathering, Munir said that in May, when India exerted pressure using its “full military strength and advanced technology,” all conventional logic and military calculations had failed. He claimed, “At that moment, we saw and felt Allah’s help coming. It was a divine intervention that prevented our soldiers’ morale from breaking.” Defence analysts believe such remarks are aimed at hiding clear technical and strategic losses suffered by Pakistan during the operation.
Reference to Quranic verse
During his speech, Munir also quoted a verse from the Quran, saying, “If Allah helps you, no one can defeat you.” He suggested that Pakistan benefited from divine support during the confrontation with India.
It is important to note that following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. Under the operation, the Indian Air Force targeted multiple terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Amid escalating tensions, a ceasefire was announced between the two countries on May 10.
