Kabul (The Uttam Hindu): Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have reached a boiling point. The Taliban is enraged after Pakistan recently violated the ceasefire by carrying out airstrikes in Afghanistan. Ten people, including budding cricketers, lost their lives in this attack. Following this attack, the Taliban has issued a stern warning to Pakistan.

Threatening Shahbaz Sharif's country, Afghanistan's Deputy Interior Minister and Taliban leader Maulvi Muhammad Nabi Omari said that if there is another attempt at attack, Pakistani soldiers will be pushed back to the Indian border.

Warning the Pakistani Army, Omari said, if Afghanistan and its people declare you an aggressor on religious orders, then I swear that you will not get security even at the Indian border.

He also took aim at the recent meetings between Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir and Shahbaz Sharif with US President Donald Trump. The Taliban minister said, “The Pakistani army does everything according to the wishes of others, and everyone must have seen Shahbaz Sharif flattering Trump recently.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire at talks in Doha following heightened tensions. This is the heaviest fighting between the two South Asian neighbours since the return of the Taliban government in 2021.

Following peace talks in Doha, Qatar's Foreign Ministry said on Sunday morning that both sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire and a mechanism to consolidate lasting peace and stability between the two countries.

However, only time will tell how much Pakistan adheres to this agreement, as it recently carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan despite the ceasefire. Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also confirmed the ceasefire agreement and said that the two sides will meet again in Istanbul on October 25th.
