Moscow (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case of how incomplete knowledge and dangerous videos that go viral on social media can prove fatal has emerged from Moscow, the capital of Russia. A 17-year-old boy, believing a claim he saw online, extracted blood from his own body and drank it. He believed this would strengthen his body and increase his strength. However, the result was that he began experiencing symptoms of poisoning, and he had to be hospitalized in critical condition.

According to a report by 'Oddity Central', the boy had seen a video online that claimed drinking one's own blood rapidly increases iron and hemoglobin levels in the body. Inspired by this misleading information, the boy extracted his own blood with a syringe and drank it. He hoped it would strengthen him, but things didn't go as planned. Shortly after drinking the blood, his health began to deteriorate. He developed a fever, began vomiting blood, and felt uneasy. Seeing his condition worsen, his family immediately called emergency services.

Doctors at the hospital managed to stabilize the boy's condition, but were stunned when they learned the cause of his illness. According to a report by Moscow 24, Dr. Andrei Kondrakhin explained that the human stomach is not designed to digest blood. He explained that drinking blood causes symptoms of poisoning. Excess iron in the blood causes stomach irritation, and the liquid part of blood, plasma, cannot be absorbed by the digestive system. The doctor explained that the body cannot obtain iron from hemoglobin in this way; it is a very complex process. This is why the boy suffered no benefit, and instead, his life was in danger.
