Tehran bombing, residential areas targeted in attack; 13 dead, university also hit
At least 13 people were killed after airstrikes hit Tehran, targeting residential areas and Sharif University of Technology amid the ongoing Iran–US conflict.

Tehran (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and United States, fresh airstrikes struck the capital Tehran on Monday, reportedly targeting both residential areas and a major university. According to Iranian media, at least 13 people were killed in an attack on Sharif University of Technology, located in the southwestern part of the city.
Explosions echoed throughout the night, with residents reporting intermittent blasts and the sound of low-flying fighter jets for several hours. Reports indicate that a nearby natural gas distribution facility close to the university campus was also damaged, though it remains unclear which exact part of the campus was hit.
Due to the prevailing war situation, no students were present at the university, as educational institutions across the country have shifted to online classes. Some reports have also alleged that the university has had links to weapons-related research, particularly concerning Iran’s ballistic missile program, which is believed to be under the control of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Over the past few years, several countries have imposed sanctions on the institution over alleged military collaboration. Meanwhile, the newspaper Iran Daily reported that at least five people were killed in a separate airstrike in a residential area of Qom, a major religious center for the Shia community located south of Tehran.
Iran has not yet released any official figures regarding total casualties or damage to its military infrastructure. State broadcaster IRIB, citing an official from Tehran’s District 9, stated that “a gas station at Sharif University was targeted, temporarily disrupting gas supply in the surrounding area.”
