Moscow (The Uttam Hindu): At least three people were killed and dozens injured after Ukrainian shelling and drone strikes targeted Russia’s border region of Belgorod, local officials said on Wednesday.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on Telegram that the village of Maslova Pristan in Shebekinsky district came under heavy fire. “According to preliminary reports, three people have lost their lives and one was injured,” he wrote, adding that a social facility was partially damaged in the attack.

Gladkov said that Ukrainian forces carried out over 110 drone attacks and fired more than 20 rounds of artillery on residential areas in Belgorod within the last 24 hours.

“In the Graivoronsky district, 16 drones and nine artillery shells struck civilian neighborhoods,” he noted.

He further stated that six people, including a child, were injured in a drone strike on a truck in the Moschenoye village. “A four-year-old girl was taken to the hospital for examination, and doctors confirmed she did not suffer barotrauma,” the governor added.

Gladkov said six victims were hospitalized, while another is being treated as an outpatient. In a separate incident, a motor vehicle was hit by a drone, injuring one more person and damaging a residential house.

The governor confirmed that several other localities across the Belgorod region were also struck by Ukrainian drones and artillery, leading to more injuries and property damage.

The Belgorod region, located along the border with Ukraine, has faced frequent cross-border attacks since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022. Moscow has repeatedly accused Kyiv of targeting civilian areas, while Ukraine maintains that such strikes are a response to Russia’s ongoing aggression.
