Tragic accident: bus plunges into deep gorge, 10 killed and 32 injured

Mexico City (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident was reported from Zontecomatlán municipality in Veracruz state, eastern Mexico, where a bus fell into a deep gorge, killing 10 people and leaving 32 others injured, according to local authorities on Thursday.

The Zontecomatlán municipal administration, in a statement shared on its official Facebook page, said that nine adults and one minor lost their lives in the accident. Officials added that the process of identifying the deceased is currently underway.

According to survivors and emergency rescue teams, the accident occurred on Wednesday when a bus operated by the Conexion company lost control while navigating a difficult stretch of road in northern Veracruz. The State Civil Protection Secretariat said that all injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Rescue operations were carried out promptly with the help of local authorities and emergency services.
