Trump likely to visit India soon, US ambassador highlights 'special friendship' with PM Modi and trade deal progress

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Sergio Gor, the newly appointed US Ambassador to India, expressed his commitment to strengthening India-US bilateral relations after assuming office in Delhi. He said that US President Donald Trump may visit India in the near future.
Ambassador Gore said that the United States and India are not only linked by shared interests, but their relationship is based on the highest level of trust. He also said that true friends may have disagreements, but they always resolve their differences.
Gore praised the resilience, innovation, and spirituality of the Indian people and expressed his desire to travel throughout India.
The ambassador stated that further talks on the trade deal between India and the United States will take place tomorrow. He shared a message from President Trump, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi his "special friend."
India's participation in the 'PaxSilica' initiative
Sergio Gor officially announced that India will join the US-led strategic initiative 'PaxSilica' as a full member next month. The initiative focuses on building a secure silicon supply chain for minerals, semiconductors, AI development, and advanced manufacturing.
Gore said the initiative will continue cooperation in areas such as trade, security, counterterrorism, energy and health. He pledged to make it the most important global partnership of this century.
The global technology partnership, Pox Silica, is described as a global innovation-driven supply chain that connects minerals, energy inputs, semiconductors, and logistics. Japan, South Korea, the UK, and Israel have previously joined. India has now been invited as a full member. Gore said that cooperation between India and the United States is essential in adopting new technologies.
A new chapter in diplomacy and the trade deal
The ambassador, giving an update on the long-awaited trade deal, said that both sides are actively engaged and the next important call on it will be tomorrow. He also mentioned the friendship between Trump and PM Modi, noting that this is his first visit to India since 2013.
