Washington (The Uttam Hindu): Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan continue to escalate, with heavy shelling reported along the border. In this backdrop, US President Donald Trump made a bold statement regarding the ongoing Afghan-Pakistani conflict, asserting that he has the ability to end it.

Before departing for Egypt, Trump spoke to the media, saying, “This will be my eighth war that I have resolved, and I’ve heard there is a war going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan as well.” He added, “I had said that I would have to wait until I returned. I am ending another war because I am an expert at resolving conflicts.”

Commenting on India’s Operation Sindoor, Trump said, “Think about India and Pakistan. Think about some wars that have been going on for decades. One war lasted 31 years, another 32 years, and one for 37 years, during which millions of people died in each country. I resolved most of them in a single day. It was tremendous.”

Regarding the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, Trump said, “I didn’t do this to get the Nobel Peace Prize. I did it to save lives.” He added, “The person who received the Nobel called me and said, ‘I am accepting it in your honor because you truly deserved it.’ I continued to assist her throughout this period.”

During the media interaction, Trump also highlighted several international disputes that he claimed were resolved under his leadership. These include conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Rwanda and Congo.
