New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, US President Donald Trump has said that the United States will win the war “very soon.” He also indicated that the possibility of further US military action against Iran before the US midterm elections cannot be ruled out.

Speaking to Fox News during the PGA Tour Presidents Cup on Sunday, Trump said global oil prices could fall sharply once the conflict ends and return close to their pre-war levels. He reiterated that a key US objective is to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Question of another attack before midterm elections

When asked whether the US could launch another military operation against Iran before the midterm elections, Trump did not rule out the possibility. He said it was “possible” but declined to say whether such action would actually be taken. Trump again stressed that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon was the most important issue.

Claim of both military and economic pressure

Asked about the military and economic pressure being imposed on Iran under “Operation Economic Outcast,” Trump said the US was making progress on both fronts. He claimed that the US had already achieved major success militarily, while clarifying that this did not mean military operations had ended.

Trump also made strong claims about Iran’s economy, saying that US pressure and sanctions had severely affected the country’s economic situation. These statements reflect the Trump administration’s assessment of the impact of its campaign against Tehran.

Claim about fall in oil prices

Trump said oil prices could fall sharply once the conflict ends. According to him, prices could return to around the levels seen before the war. However, the actual movement of oil prices will depend on factors including global supply and demand, the situation around the Strait of Hormuz and broader geopolitical developments. Recent market reports have also linked oil-price movements to uncertainty over the US-Iran conflict and the possibility of further military action.
