Trump security breach attempt foiled at Mar-a-Lago, armed suspect shot dead by Secret Service

New York (The Uttam Hindu): Amid serious security concerns, an armed individual was shot dead after attempting to enter the secure perimeter of former US President Donald Trump’s private residence, Mar-a-Lago, in Florida. The incident has been confirmed by the US Secret Service, and the Associated Press has also reported the development.
According to an official statement issued by the US Secret Service, at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time on Sunday, Secret Service agents and a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office opened fire on a man who attempted to unlawfully enter the secured area of Mar-a-Lago. The injured individual was later declared dead. His identity has not been disclosed pending notification of his family.
Authorities stated that the suspect was first spotted near the northern gate of the Mar-a-Lago estate. He was reportedly carrying a shotgun and a fuel can. Secret Service agents and the sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop him, and shots were fired during the confrontation. No agents or sheriff’s personnel were injured in the incident.
Officials confirmed that no individual under Secret Service protection was present at the location at the time of the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the US Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the matter. The probe includes a review of the suspect’s background, activities, possible motive, and the circumstances surrounding the use of force. As per agency policy, the Secret Service agents involved have been placed on administrative leave pending completion of the investigation.
