Washington (The Uttam Hindu) – Donald Trump has claimed that Iran was willing to negotiate with him, but said it is now “too late” for talks. In a post on Truth Social, Trump asserted that Iran’s military capabilities and leadership were “finished” and praised his own decision to launch strikes. He wrote that Iran now wants discussions, but he has ruled out negotiations at this stage.
Earlier, Trump had stated that he would be open to speaking with Iranian leaders if they approached him. At the same time, he continued the airstrikes that began on February 28 and called on the Iranian people to challenge their government. However, Iranian officials have publicly denied any outreach for peace talks with Washington.
Ali Larijani, a senior Iranian leader, stated that Tehran is not engaged in negotiations with the United States and dismissed reports suggesting otherwise. He also rejected claims that any proposal had been sent through intermediaries to resume dialogue. The exchange of statements reflects the deepening rift between the two countries as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.
