Trump's Shock Pivot: Endorses Putin's Plan, Leaves Zelensky Reeling

Washington (The Uttam Hindu): It has been three years since the Russia-Ukraine war started. During this time the Russian army has occupied a large part of Ukraine. For this, President Vladimir Putin not only had to pay a huge economic price and sacrifice his soldiers, but is also facing international opposition. Despite this, Putin is not ready for a compromise. He clearly says that the occupied areas will not be left under any circumstances. This is the reason why a ceasefire has not been agreed upon till now.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has also stepped up his efforts to stop the war. Putin and Trump held talks for about three hours in Alaska, but no agreement could be reached on a ceasefire. However, Trump has not given up and has accepted some of Putin's demands.

According to the report, Trump has agreed to Putin's proposal to occupy the land. He has allowed Russia to take control of two important parts of Ukraine. During the meeting, Putin clearly refused to leave the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine (which includes Donetsk and Luhansk). It is being said that Trump has accepted this condition.

After returning from Alaska, Trump spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over the phone and also informed European countries about the meeting. But Zelensky flatly refused to hand over Donbass to Russia. He says that he is bound by the Constitution of Ukraine and cannot give any part of the country to Russia.

However, Zelensky has agreed to trilateral talks between Russia, America and Ukraine.
