New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After Venezuela, US President Donald Trump is now eyeing Greenland. Trump appears to be taking a tough stance on Greenland once again, calling for the elimination of the perceived Russian threat from the region. In recent days, Trump has made several statements about Greenland, sparking international debate.

Trump shared a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying Denmark has long failed to protect Greenland from the Russian threat. He indicated that it was time for concrete action.

Trump's statement:

"NATO has been telling Denmark for the past 20 years that it must remove the Russian threat from Greenland. Unfortunately, no concrete action has been taken to date. But the time has come, and action will be taken."

There has been no official response to Trump's statement from the White House, the Danish government, the Danish presidency, or the European Union. It is worth noting that Trump has previously publicly expressed his desire to bring Greenland under US control.

Top leaders from Denmark and Greenland have already stated clearly that Greenland is not for sale and will never become part of the United States. Recently, Trump warned European countries that he could take steps such as imposing tariffs if his demands regarding Greenland are not met.

Citing national security, Trump is linking the growing presence of Russia and China in Greenland to US national security. He argues that since Greenland is part of NATO's security framework, the region's security is also important to the US.
