Under-construction Hindu temple collapses in South Africa, 4 killed including Indian-origin man

Johannesburg (The Uttam Hindu): A major tragedy occurred when a four-story Hindu temple under construction collapsed in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province. Four people, including a 52-year-old man of Indian origin, were killed in the accident.
The accident occurred at the New Ahobilam Temple of Protection in the Redcliffe area, north of eThekwini, where expansion work was underway on the hilltop temple. During construction, a portion of the building suddenly collapsed. Two deaths were initially confirmed, and two more bodies were recovered from the rubble on Saturday. Relief and rescue operations have been suspended due to bad weather.

The director of the charity organization associated with the temple has also confirmed his death. It is being told that this temple was designed in the shape of a cave and stones brought from India were used in its construction. Meanwhile, the eThekwini Municipality has said that no building permission was taken for this project, due to which this construction is being considered illegal. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
